چکیده

ABSTRACT Most previous studies of extreme temperatures have primarily focused on atmospheric temperatures. Using 18 years the latest version Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) land surface temperature (LST) data, we globally investigate spatial patterns hot and cold extremes as well diurnal range (DTR). We show that world’s highest LST 80.8°C, observed in Lut Desert Iran Sonoran Mexico, is over 10°C above global record 70.7°C 2005. The coldest place Earth Antarctica with low ?110.9°C. maximum DTR 81.8°C a desert environment China. see strong latitudinal DTR. Biomes worldwide are faced different levels DTR: observe zonal average 61.1° ± 5.3°C deserts xeric shrublands; lowest minimum ?66.6° 14.8°C tundra; 43.5° 9.9°C montane grasslands shrublands. This exploration across biomes sheds light type ecosystems with.

Coldest Temperature Extreme Monotonically Increased and Hottest Extreme Oscillated over Northern Hemisphere Land during Last 114 Years

Most studies on global warming rely on global mean surface temperature, whose change is jointly determined by anthropogenic greenhouse gases (GHGs) and natural variability. This introduces a heated debate on whether there is a recent warming hiatus and what caused the hiatus. Here, we presented a novel method and applied it to a 5° × 5° grid of Northern Hemisphere land for the period 1900 to 20...

Thermal states of coldest and hottest neutron stars in soft X-ray transients

We calculate the thermal structure and quiescent thermal luminosity of accreting neutron stars (warmed by deep crustal heating in accreted matter) in soft X-ray transients (SXTs). We consider neutron stars with nucleon and hyperon cores and with accreted envelopes. It is assumed that an envelope has an outer helium layer (of variable depth) and deeper layers of heavier elements, either with iro...

Industrial emissions cause extreme urban ozone diurnal variability.

Simulations with a regional chemical transport model show that anthropogenic emissions of volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides (NO(x) = NO + NO(2)) lead to a dramatic diurnal variation of surface ozone (O(3)) in Houston, Texas. During the daytime, photochemical oxidation of volatile organic compounds catalyzed by NO(x) results in episodes of elevated ambient O(3) levels significantly ...

Mammalian metabolic rates in the hottest fish on earth

The Magadi tilapia, Alcolapia grahami, a small cichlid fish of Lake Magadi, Kenya lives in one of the most challenging aquatic environments on earth, characterized by very high alkalinity, unusual water chemistry, and extreme O2, ROS, and temperature regimes. In contrast to most fishes which live at temperatures substantially lower than the 36-40 °C of mammals and birds, an isolated population ...

Assessment of Spatial and Temporal Variability of Extreme Precipitation Indices (North and West of Iran)

The frequency of precipitation extreme event can cause flood or change the drought period. Accurate understanding of these changes is necessary to take action to reduce these effects. In this research, temporal and spatial changes of 14 precipitation indices for eight synoptic stations in the North and West of the country were investigated. For this purpose, after reconstructing the daily preci...
